ATLANTA’S PREMIER SPADES TOURNAMENT

Play With Purpose. Build Community. Make an Impact.

October 3, 2026$1,000 Championship Prize$100 / Two-Person Team

First 16 teams get a first-round bye. Seeds go in registration order — the earliest 16 teams skip round one entirely.

The Challenge

Four moves stand between your team and the trophy.

01

Find Your Partner and Get Ready

Lock in your teammate. Spades is a two-player game — chemistry, signals, and trust at the table matter as much as the cards you're dealt.

02

Rise and Fly With a Boston on the First Hand

Come out swinging. A Boston on hand one sets the tone for the whole bracket and puts the room on notice.

03

Use Your Skills—No Bidding Your Hand

This format rewards real spades instinct: reading the table, counting cards, and making the right play — not inflating a bid.

04

Walk Away With $1,000 and the Championship Trophy

Win the bracket, take the purse, and hold the trophy that says you were the best two-person team in Atlanta this fall.

Tournament Format

A 64-team field. Registration order sets the bracket, and the first 16 teams in skip the first round entirely.

Round 1

16 teams sit out

Seeds 1–16 — the first 16 teams to register — are already through. They rest, scout, and open play in the round of 40.

Round 1

48 teams play

Seeds 17–64 play 24 games. Win and you join the bracket; lose and your run ends before it starts.

Round 2 onward

40 teams, one loss each

The 16 bye teams and the 24 first-round winners form the full bracket. Single-elimination from there to the final table.

The Rules That Matter

  • 01Standard 52-card deck — spades are always trump.
  • 02Ace is high in every suit.
  • 03Two players per team, partnered across the table.
  • 04No bidding, and no set-book penalties — this format rewards pure card play.
  • 05The first 16 teams to register receive a first-round bye.
  • 06The remaining 48 teams play the first round — 24 games, 24 teams advance.
  • 07Bye teams and first-round winners meet in a 40-team single-elimination bracket.
  • 08Every registered team receives the complete official rulebook before play begins.

Tournament officials have final authority over all rule interpretations, scoring decisions, and disqualifications. Decisions made at the table by officials are binding for the remainder of the event.

Official Rules

Deck & Trump. Each match is played with a standard 52-card deck. Spades are always trump, and ace is high in every suit.

Teams. Teams consist of exactly two players seated across from one another. Substitutions mid-match are not permitted except by ruling of a tournament official.

No Bidding. This tournament format removes bidding and set-book penalties entirely — teams play every hand to score points through card play and hand-reading skill alone.

Bracket & Seeding. The field is 64 teams. Seeds are assigned strictly by the order in which teams complete registration, and the first 16 teams to register are awarded a first-round bye. The remaining 48 teams — seeds 17 through 64 — play 24 first-round games. The 24 winners join the 16 bye teams to form a 40-team bracket.

Elimination. Every round is single-elimination: one loss ends a team's run. A bye counts as an advance, not a win, and carries no scoring or tiebreak credit. If a registered team withdraws or is disqualified before play, the seeds behind it move up by one, and a bye may pass to the next team in registration order.

Full Rulebook. A complete written rulebook — covering scoring detail, renege procedures, time limits, and conduct expectations — is provided to every registered team ahead of the tournament.

Tournament officials have final authority over all rule interpretations, scoring decisions, and disqualifications. All decisions made by officials during play are final and binding.
